After visiting the stables at ARC Malton Open Day in the morning, take a look at the races you could enjoy watching in the afternoon at The YorkMix Family Sunday at York Races.

The highlight on the card is the BETGOODWIN Garrowby Stakes. This a Listed race run over 6 furlongs; it is open to horses aged three years or older.  The name Garrowby is actually taken from a hamlet in the East Riding of Yorkshire.  The race was first run at York Racecourse in 2012, and with a prize pot of £70,000, it will surely attract some hot competition.

Don’t miss the first race on the card, which is a pony race, part of the Pony Race Series; this is an opportunity for our future jockeys to race on the Knavesmire over a distance of 1 mile and 2 furlongs.  All participants in this race have qualified to compete.  Make no mistake, Pony Races can easily be mistaken for being “the real thing” with riders of tremendous talent and skills in the saddle.  For more information on the Pony Race Series, click here

There are also two 2-year-old races on the card, both over 6 furlongs and with amazing prize money on offer. Could you see a young future superstar winning on the 10th of September who becomes a household name?

There are sure to be some highly competitive races on offer, and with distances from the shortest sprinting trip of 5 furlongs up to the staying distance of 2 miles, you really do get to see all you could wish for in one day. If you package the phenomenal racing with what YorkMix Family Sunday offers away from the horses, it really is a fantastic value-for-money afternoon at the races.
