Visitors of Malton Open Day and York Racecourses’ YorkMix Family Raceday can enjoy a morning meeting the horses racing at their stables, before heading off to enjoy some top-class racing in the Grandstand and Paddock Enclosure of the racecourse. Meet the ever-popular Bluey and burn some energy in the Entertainment Marquee – there’s something for everyone!

As the only Sunday of racing at York Racecourse combined with the opportunity to meet some of the runners in their stables in the morning, the day is set to bring smiling faces to everyone. Record prize money is sure to draw in the runners on the 10th of September with the Listed Garrowby Stakes alone offering £70,000. Further to the prestige of the Listed contests is one leg of the hotly contested Go Racing in Yorkshire Future Stars Apprentice Series which will take place throughout the afternoon, will we see the next Frankie Dettori? Whilst the Apprentice Series focuses on the jockeys making a splash on the course today, the two Dragon Studios-backed pony races taking place ahead of the seven-race card will shine a light on the jockeys of the future.

If the quality racing wasn’t enough, there is fun for all of the family at the YorkMix Family Raceday. Enjoy the racing in the company of the children’s character, Bluey, who is available to meet the whole family at intervals throughout the day. Whilst we can’t always tame the weather in Yorkshire, we can assure you that the fun will continue under the cover of the exciting Entertainment Marquee, which over the last few years has been home to giant inflatables, Diggerland, a children’s zoo, zorb football, face painting, and lots more.

At a discounted price, you can enjoy an action-packed day out for all the family with a visit to Malton Open Day in the morning, seeing behind the scenes of the racing stables in Malton, and then head on for an afternoon of watching the horses you have met cross the finishing post at York Racecourse.
